I agree with peanut and others, unless something as really changed. That is not a eno!! I have well over a 100 nights in mine and I bet you could not tell it from my friends with 3 nights on it. Plus the sack is wrong.

Is it super new and they have changed a few things? Either way return it and see if they will give you a new one.

It us pretty new and I just hope that they will take it. Any specific things I should point out when trying to return it?
just point to the rip/hole/tear in the bag, you just bought it, no worries with rei. its just surprising how different the material looks.

I've been moderately using mine since 2005 and it is still in decent shape. I am a big guy too.
ENO will repair/replacement your hammock for free, I know for sure, I work for REI, just send it to them and give them a call telling them you need it for the season so they will rush the repair/replacement
I don't think this is a quality issue, the hammocks and stuff sacks are the same as before, and these hammocks have held up to a lot of abuse, I have customers tell me they leave theirs up for days in the yard in the sun, wind and rain with no damage, I don't think they are indestructible but should handle the use you describe.
ENO changed the biners and cord locks this year, I compared my 2 yr. old model to one on the sales floor and the material is the same, the sack may have had a small hole before you got it, this could be one of many things.
-A shopper abused it before you bought it.
-Poked by display pegs.
-It could have been damaged in shipping.
Update: I went to REI yesterday and had no problems returning it. I just told the employee about my situation and he simply exchanged it for me. It seems that there return policy is still extremely lenient.
That rocks!!
