ENO Durability?

I recently bought a ENO Doublenest at REI and I was wondering about the durability of ENO hammocks. I've used my hammock about a half a dozen times in my backyard and have slept overnight in it once. I have been extremely careful with the hammock making sure that I didn't have any sharp objects in my pocket and making sure that it did not touch the ground. When I was not in use I put it in the stuff sack and kept it in my closet away from harms reach. It functions well, but I have noticed a hole in the stuff sack and some wear on the stuff sack. I have about noticed a small tear on the hammock itself. I have no explanation on how the hammock tore other than poor quality fabric is my hammock a defect or is this normal and if it is a defect would REI replace it. Pictures of the stuff sack attached.

My ENO's have held up to a lot of use so far. The hole looks to be cause by something sharp as opposed to some kind of defect. As to the wear, I have no idea. It's possible they sac is slightly thinner than the actual hammock body to save money in manufacturing. It also looks like its different material. The sac on mine feels the same as the hammock though.

My 1st ENO is 2 1/2 years old and has countless hangs. it has been my learning Hammock so it has been poked prodded stretched has held up to me and my kids my dog being in it.

I do have a backup (another ENO DN)

I have 2 DN both just over a year old. Both used vigorously; bordering on ABuse. Both still look like new. Per your photos your ENO looks weathered. Are you leaving this hang in your back yard for extended periods? UV rays from the sun would be damaging.

My ENO DN has held up well. I think REI might take it back and exchange it, as long as it isn't modified.

My eno dn has had by far the most use than my others and it looks new, I have washed it many time and it's still holding up great.

That stuff sack doesn't look right. I don't have mine in front of me, but the fabric doesn't seem the same from my memory. There are also stray stitches visible at the top of the frame which doesn't look right either. Not only are they loose, but the thread looks thicker than what I've seen on my ENOs. Perhaps it is just the magnification that is throwing everything off, but regardless, that hammock has seen some use. If you bought it at REI, I have a hard time believing you bought a "new" product given the state of disrepair and your stated limited use.

Like the other posters, I have ENOs that are several years old, have seen lots of trail time, and have been abused to the point that I'm surprised Child Services haven't come knocking on my tarp door. None of them have any wear and tear even close to resembling what you have pictured.

Thanks for all the great responses. I will be going to REI later this week and trying to have it exchanged. The conclusion that I have come up with is that while REI was having there 20% sale on the ENO DN the quality of the hammocks they where selling was much lower than that of regular batches and because I bought my hammock during that sale it is of lower quality and therefore a defect. I that reasonable? I also attached pictures of the stitching below.

Even the hammock material doesn't look right to me. It looks like the texture of cordura. It does say ENO on the outside? All my ENO's have a smoother, shinier and crinklier look to the material.
