    Took the Plunge

    Hey All,
I just took the plunge on my first hammock. Snagged a WBBBBXLC in double 1.7 with whoopie sling and a superfly. I'm deathly excited, but not looking forward to the wait. Anything I can do to get ready for arrival? Tips, tricks, hard learned lessons? And a hearty hello to everyone out there.

Thats a nice piece of kit you just bought. It's been my experience that bourbon seems to make the wait a little less painful.

That, my friend, sounds like a plan.

    Took the Plunge

I just set my xlc up for the first time yesterday. I'm a complete newb but get some snake skins for the tarp, and I got 6 Dutch tarp flyz. I can get the tarp set up in about a minute flat. No knots. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1371228180.119400.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1371228205.768896.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1371228227.184475.jpg
That's a WL big daddy tarp. Wishing now I had bought something with doors but oh well.

That looks like a sweet setup! I snagged some #3 snake skins on Amazon along with a few other odds and ends. I'm thinking it might make the wait worse, staring at a bunch of hardware with no hammock. Kinda like buying a few boxes of rounds for a gun that ain't in yet
Where did you get the dutch tarp flys? How much easier do they make setup/teardown?

Me personally, I'm not a knot guy. Just google tarp flyz. It'll take you right to dutch's site. Watch the video. They're super easy and fast. I'm going to keep the tarp rolled up in the skins set up above the hammock ready to be deployed. That way I can still have a view but still have the tarp out in a few seconds.

Soooooooo I have the same problem. I ordered mine Tuesday and already the suspense is killing me. I ordered the same the WBBB 1.7 DL only I decided to get the superfly. I am glad the weather is stifling hot and by the time the hammock arrives it should mellow out enough to sleep comfortably at night. Oh well another glass of bourbon till then. Cheers

Get into making your own stoves, find some PIF items to get rid of and gain! That's what I did to help the time go by

I got a new dbl. 1.7 XLC this spring, and it is a FINE hammock!!!! And the Superfly truly is a SUPER tarp.

One thing you can do to prepare is buy your tarp guy-out line material and make up your lines. I think the Warbonnet site has a video that tells you the ideal number and length of lines. I added a couple of mitten hooks to the tarp "door" D-rings and rigged up my lines so I could clip them together under the tarp when the doors weren't deployed.

I also purchased a pair of Titanium Dutch Clips for my XLC's tree straps. Highly recommended (like any of Dutch's goodies).

    Take it easy,
