    I'm Converting..

    Hey everyone.
So, I've been a tent camper all of my life and started very young. The last camp I went on made me want to figure out something different. Rain, wind, and hard ground (even with a descent underpad) made for a terrible night. I ended up making a trip to my chiropractor in the wake of knee pain and terrible lower back pain. When I told him what the cause was, he went to his computer and showed me some hammocks. I took the plunge!
I ordered through WarBonnet, and now the terrible waiting game begins. Hopefully this will be the beginning of a great friendship, hanging in the outdoors.
    Aaron from Wisconsin.

    Let me get this straight:

Seriously, though, I hope the hammock helps.

Welcome from NE FLorida! My best friend is a transplant from Wisconsin.

Busted up back made tent camping pure misery, so Duffy and I started with a camper (and as a 'senior' woman, I was pleased to have 'facilities' close by). Then when hiking became part of the package, we switched to a hammock (and 'facilities' are always close by).

My first hammock was Duffy's old Speer. Then he got me a Black Bird for my birthday. I'm hooked. Our 3rd hammocks are in the bedroom.

kc -- fulltime hammocker, thanks to Olddog, Samsara, and Duffy!

    WELCOME TO THE FORUMS!

Just a quick word of warning. This is an addictive group, we are considering starting our own 12 Step Program just for Hammock addicts.

Sounds like you have a fine doctor there, probably an HF member if I were to guess.

    Welcome from the Jersey Shore.

I'm hoping to avoid it for a little while by starting big. We'll see how things shake out...but I have been looking at quilts already!!

Welcome to the forums, from Ohio. Hammocking is far better for the back. I haven't been in a tent or had our camper out since I started this addiction...I mean affliction....or, ummm, I mean hobby

I really do appreciate a good rain sleeping in the Clark, something comforting about it! Welcome to the new world!

What sets a canoeing expedition apart is that it purifies you more rapidly and inescapably than any other travel. Travel a thousand miles by train and you are a brute; pedal five hundred on a bicycle and you remain basically a bourgeois; paddle a hundred in a canoe and you are already a child of nature.
