There have been several threads but my search skills are low. I'm getting asked how to hang a hammock in the back yard on two trees for the entire summer. I'm suggesting a cinch strap with wood blocks between the strap and tree. My friend is reading lag bolts or eye bolts. He's looking for good advice.
Does anybody remember the threads so I can find them.

Your right, numerous threads..
But without tracking down several old threads, I'll make some rec's.
No screws or bolts. They do damage to the trees. Period. They invite rot, which can lead to the hardware ripping free from the tree. And possible injury.
A simple webbing strap/carabiner suspension can be put up in seconds. I'd suggest not leaving the supension or hammock exposed to the elements full time. Rain, sun, wind, critters will eventually shorten the hammocks/suspension lifetime.
While todays products are good, full time exposure is not a good thing for any equipment that is designed to suspend.
Once you have the system attached to the trees, it should be easy enough to take it down and stow it away. The next deployment will not need any adjusting. Time needed is short. And this practice will allow you to inspect the suspension and hammock each and everytime, always a good idea, whether your in the woods or at home.
This also keeps your hammock cleaner, and safe from thievery or vandalism.
Since its a home hanging situation, your system can be big, heavy and comfortable.

I also agree that it should not be left up all summer long.
Your friend should take it down when it is not in use.
