Do you clean the ashes off your gear??

This is just a question of curiousity here....

After I get back from a trip there are always some very small ash droppings, if you will, on some part of my gear. It's usually on my tarp the most though.

Would you clean the ashed gear when you got back home or just shake it off in the field and pack that sucker up for next time?

I don't really know what the proper procedure would be, I usually clean mine.

I'd just brush it off and put it up. I guess it depends on the person.

Just didn't know if there were any adverse effects?

I can't speak specifically to any adverse effects of ash but in general I always hang my tarp up inside when I get home to make sure it is dry of any moisture has no bird poop on it and if so clean it off and shake it out to get any debris off of it. Fold it nice and loosely and store inside a Tupper wear box. I also check it for any signs of failure at the RL and tie out points.
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

Nah, it'll be fine. I just give it a good smack to knock off any loose moisture/dirt, they pack it up. If it was wet the last time I pack it before I head home, I'll hang it up out back to dry out, but that's it.
