Too dang funny. Part 3 may be a let-down for ya' now!
There is one more part to come. Whooooo Buddy!
Thanks.
1) I shoot a fair deal but remember that you have to pre-view it all for a good video. I do that at night in the hammock and weed out some dull stuff. Again when I am home. On a trip report with other people (like this trip) I am much more succinct in my shooting. When I am alone on a trip I shoot a lot more as the camera becomes my hiking bud and I can go on and on rambling. As the days go on I usually tighten up my shots. So it varies. Try not to shoot real long sequences because you have to go through it all to find the gem.
2) Again it varies. You have to be open to moments and just stop and shoot. I keep my camera and small tripod in a pocket so I can draw it fast. A lot of footage is shot on breaks. You must have fun doing it and discipline yourself to shoot even when you don't want to. Then look for the Story or Thread in your footage. In these vids with Wandern'Fool...Clowns in the Woods was my POV. We are both former Ringling Brothers circus clowns so i know that will come through especially with him along.
It does take time but it is fun to see the trip again when editing. That is my favorite part. Spend time getting to know your camera and editing program. Be creative. Tell your story. Find your own style to tell it. Be yourself on camera. Look at the camera lens and not the screen...looks like your looking over my shoulder then and I lose interest. Balance the sound. Don't use to many transitions....cross dissolve is best. Make it fun.
Carry forth!
