The suspense is killing me so much foreshadowing.

Is some one going to slip in bear poop and injure themselves?

Will a bear try to attack you only to be beat back buy a not so native Gorilla that befriended you after you patched his wounds with duct tape?

Or maybe you got attacked by a band of guerrillas and your only defense was a duct tape sling shoot and bear/wolf poop!
Too dang funny. Part 3 may be a let-down for ya' now!

Quick couple of questions, 1) how much footage do you shoot and then edit out (rough estimate) and 2) how much of a "slow down" is shooting video when hiking? (All the walk by shots, getting the gear out and the like).

Reason I ask is, I am feeling inspired to give it a go to be able to share video and don't want to under estimate the time or effort.

    Thanks,

    Thanks.
    1) I shoot a fair deal but remember that you have to pre-view it all for a good video. I do that at night in the hammock and weed out some dull stuff. Again when I am home. On a trip report with other people (like this trip) I am much more succinct in my shooting. When I am alone on a trip I shoot a lot more as the camera becomes my hiking bud and I can go on and on rambling. As the days go on I usually tighten up my shots. So it varies. Try not to shoot real long sequences because you have to go through it all to find the gem.
    2) Again it varies. You have to be open to moments and just stop and shoot. I keep my camera and small tripod in a pocket so I can draw it fast. A lot of footage is shot on breaks. You must have fun doing it and discipline yourself to shoot even when you don't want to. Then look for the Story or Thread in your footage. In these vids with Wandern'Fool...Clowns in the Woods was my POV. We are both former Ringling Brothers circus clowns so i know that will come through especially with him along.
It does take time but it is fun to see the trip again when editing. That is my favorite part. Spend time getting to know your camera and editing program. Be creative. Tell your story. Find your own style to tell it. Be yourself on camera. Look at the camera lens and not the screen...looks like your looking over my shoulder then and I lose interest. Balance the sound. Don't use to many transitions....cross dissolve is best. Make it fun.
    Carry forth!

Thanks for all your videos Shug. I have enjoyed every one of them. Some of them I have watched multiple times. I can watch one when having a "rough" day and I immediately feel better. Thanks again for sharing your many gifts and talents. Oh, by the way, I have also picked up a few tips about hammocking!

I so love the decision to stay in that golden spot instead of sticking the the tyranny of a schedule or miles. Your videos and philosophy of being outdoors nails the ultimate reason for getting out there in the first place IMO. You rawk Shug.

I had to show Hamhocker that awesome campsite ya'll stayed at. I noticed that the sound is faster on the home computer than the one at work. Anyone else having that problem? It doesn't matter if I watch it in the thread or on youtube.

Re: ViDEO: Snowbank Lake Loop PART 2 BWCA

Looks fun Shug. My wife and I are stoked about our own fast-approaching SHT thru. We are spending the month of july on the SHT w/ our pup Loki. No good at video, but some entertaining stills usually result. :-)

    Great video as always

Enjoyed watching the video, Shug. Always wanted to do the Snowbank while I lived in MN, closest I got was passing by the southern shore when I did the Kek in 2009. Looks like you were fortunate with the bugs, surprising for mid-June.

    Takes me back!!

    Best regards from AZ.
