Tarp guide lines and ridge line?

Hey guys, I'm a bit confused on the ridge line for my tarp first of all, I stopped using one because I always got wet (I did tie a string onto it goingmdownmto stop water but didn't seem to work) so any touts on that? And also I am wanting small string/wire whatever with Very little stretch that I can tie prussic knots on to adjust all my guide lines. Any suggestios? Size and where I can get it?

Also on that thought where do I get shock cord and how do I go bout making the tarp tensioner s?
And last questin is how can I put up my tarp in the bag with out lol of the cords getting tangled up? Thanks guys!

    Viper, Welcome to the board!
The tarp ridge line can be hung above the tarp to minimize any water running under the tarp. You run the ridgeline the same way as you did, except just put it outside the tarp not inside. Then use prussics to tighten the tarp on the ridgeline.

As for cord, look for Zing-it or Lash-it. Very low stretch, high strength. It comes in 2.2mm or 1.75mm so it is light, but you can use prussics on it. (I do.). I bought mine from an outfit out on the west coast, but there are several vendors that sell it. If you want something even lighter, say 1.4mm, look at zpacks website for his spectra cord. http://www.zpacks.com/accessories/spectra_cord.shtml
There are others who sell lightweight cord also. Again, search for dyneema or spectra.(these are actually the same material.)
I prefer a single braid dyneema because it is spliceable.

Shock cord can be bought at any JoAnne or Hancock fabric store. Of course, you can shop online for this, too.

There are a lot of tutorials on tarp tensioner. Just use the search function on this board or use yor browser. There are many different versions.

    I'm using this; http://shop.whoopieslings.com/Single...are-CRL-DE.htm

and really like it! It is the last thing to go in my stuff sack, so it is on top. When I take it down, I wrap it around my hand so it is in a hank.
