Could you be a bit more specific on what you need funding for? Som pics and diagrams wouldn't hurt ether.
Life looks better from a BIAS hammock.
Sounds like what I've been doing for over a year now and find very convenient. The undercover was based on the Garlington Taco idea with the UQ of polyester batting permanently attached to the undercover. The UQ is cut to only be as large as needed for coverage, believe it would be considered a trapezoid. The undercover has channeled ends with continuous loops to close the ends and then slid over the hammock suspension. The hammock, bugnet and UQ/UC all compress to fit in the largest of the WM 3 pack of stuff sacks. Once I've managed to save up for a custom down UQ it should compress down even more.
Good luck on your endeavor.
Most of us end up poorer here but richer for being here. Olddog, Fulltime hammocker, 365 nights a year.
Thom, this quote from your page seems like it will be hard to achieve. Comfort in Summer AND Winter, is a major reason that insulation is usually separate from the hammock body. The hammock and underquilt will fit into one stuff sack. Instead of hanging your hammock, then hanging your underquilt. You will only need to hang up your hammock and you're ready to enjoy hanging on a summer day or a cold winter night.
I am looking forward to your solution. Best wishes with the project.
It will be easily separated from the hammock. Just a few seconds and the underquilt can be removed.
I also tried my best to come up with a diagram.
Here is my very crudely drawn diagram.
The black is the hammock while the red is the underquilt. The underquilt will attach to the sides of the hammock. It will be easily removable so you can swap out a winter quilt for a summer quilt.
Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
So the quilt is removable, just attached differently?
Makes more sense to me now, but just so you know folks have been putting hammock and quilt together in the same stuff sack for a while. Quilt simply remains attached and sets-up with the hammock.
Still, always good to see a new twist to things. That's how stuff gets thought-up around here. Good luck!
Trust nobody!
Post up more details, diagrams, prototypes on your site to generate interest.
Always enjoy contributing to startups but like to have a better idea of the project.
Good luck.
If I get enough funding to build the prototype I will start posting videos of it.
Why on Earth do you need $2500 to sew a hammock and quilt? Can easily be done for less than $300 and that's using high quality fabrics.
Nothing about this makes any sense.
