Thumbs up Trouble with angles? not any more

If like me you have trouble finding that 30 degree angle (and have an Android device) I've just found an angle measurer for free on the Play Store, the one I'm using is called "Leveler (level tool)" but there is loads of others. It uses your camera to measure the angle of an object by putting a red line on the screen with the degrees so no more guessing, and once I get used to what it looks like I probably won't need it.

Hope this was of some use to someone.

This looks like a great way of doing it! I like to think I have an idea by now but its great for someone starting or backing up their guesses to get a better idea.

If you don't want to bother with a phone or some other gadget, most folkds have two failry decent built-in 'protractors' that will measure an angle fairly close to 30 degrees (close enough for gubment work anyway).

Hold yur hand up in front of you estend your thumb upward and your index and muddle fingers outward and curl the remaining two fingers into your palm. Now raise you index finger as far as it will go...the angle between your index finger and middle finger should be relatively close to 30 degrees. Don't be exact obviously but it'll get you close.

We call it part of the TLAR method (That Looks About Right)

Thanks for the tip! Have recently discovered my eyes are easily fooled by sloped ground. Late night adjustments because the foot end isnt as high above the head suck!

I've been known to hang at 29 degrees, and on the rare occasion at 31 degrees.

Thom, as long as you don't hit 35 you should be fine.
