Post Enough talk already, let's get busy!

Okay, so here it is as we stand now. Before leaving for our family vacation I took delivery of 37yrds of olive drab 70D ripstop for our family tarp. Enough bright yellow 1" webbing to make tree straps for 4.

On the drive down I was able to make 4 sets of red 7/64" whoopie slings from 100' of dyneema.

Several rolls of grosgrain in black, red, yellow, and bright green.

So I know all this is pointless without pictures, so once we get home I'll be taking and posting pictures.

Questions and comments welcome. I'll try to upload a Basic rendering of the tarp as well.

    Until next time!

How big is the tarp and are all the hammocks made from the same OD ripstop? I assume since you are making a tarp it is PU coated? It could get a little clammy if used for a hammock. Looking forward to some pics!

My oldest is 12, he recently crossed over to Boy Scouts and my youngest is 9 and a Webelo I.

The tarp will be 12' long and have a ridge line height of 5'.

I made the boys hammocks from crinkle taffeta tablecloths. The only remaining thing is to attach the bugnet.

The wife had to have hers store bought so I got her a Byers of Maine and myself a Walmart special.

I'll be sure to document the attaching of the bugnet to the boys hammocks since I'm trying something different.

We'll be hanging side by side with the boy on the "top bunk" in 2x2 fashion using a 36" spreader bar.

Now, to hurry home! Just a few more days to relax.

Okay, so we get home last night and had to get my stuff in order so I can finally get busy. I took a few pictures this morning and can only access HF from work. For some weird reason I can't access HF from home (it's another story).

So here's the play by play:

I apologize if you are having to tilt your head to the side but I don't know how to rotate it on this thing. If anyone knows how to fix it please let me know.

The ripstop pic - this is 37 yards of 70D from Magnafabrics.com

On Goodies 1 & 2 you can see the assorted colors of thread and grosgrain that I'll be using.

the gold-hamm is my oldest's hammock. You can see the red whoopie-slings and the gold colored caribiners.

the black-hamm is my youngest, so I will be using some bright contrast with him.

Give me a few days to stage an plan the cutting of the ripstop. I definitely do not want to screw this up!

    Until next time.

    Family Tarp from the start

Okay, since I was on vacation for the 4th, what better time to have some good quality family time that to work with my boys.

Here is the first of few short videos that I took.

Okay, I've started joining the panels. So I've taken a couple of pictures not to bore you with thread injecting miles of material.

Here I have tried to setup the material on my prep table in our living room.

In this shot you can see that I am using double sided tape to keep my stuff from moving.

In this shot it's just miles of sewing.
