    Hammocks in Paris

Just got back from a trip to Paris. While there, the family and I did all the touristy things, including visiting the famous museum "Le Louvre." Next to Le Louvre is a park that includes a playground. On the playground (where I took the kids), guess what I saw?

Turns out in Paris, a hammock is a toy / ride on a playground!

That's next door to the Louvre?!?

That's really weird. Looks like a jungle themed park. Silly Parisians.

(you've kind of fouled up my memories of Paris... guess I have to go back now)

It's in Jardin de Tuileries (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuileries_Garden), just northwest of Le Louvre. It's a wooded park that has a carousel, a kids playground, etc. Here's a map: http://goo.gl/maps/66xM5

If you go back, bring a hammock -- there's places to hang in that park!

I remember the Tuileries. Not like that though...

I didn't have any kiddles with me.

Probably wasn't like that when you were there. The google map I posted shows the location of the playground, the pavillion, but most of the equipment isn't there in the sat image. (See the green arrow -- that's where the park is located...)

    So, your memory isn't failing!

I think that's a weeping willow in the picture, looking kind of jungle-y. I lived in Paris for two years after college. I remember the Tuileries and all the beautiful parks in Paris. I'd love to see someone hanging a camping hammock somewhere in Paris!!!!

    Hammocks in Paris

There is one of those playground hammocks in a park in a suburb of Seattle too. It is NOT comfortable, unless you like metal connector nubs in your back. My son tried to lie in it (b/c he likes our hammock at home) and he immediately got out of it.
