I might have to visit Colorado's lakes. I fell in love with Washington's many years ago, the sight never gets old. For me, my back up is my bear bag line, it's all bear country here so that is always with me. I use 50ft of dynaglide for that and i keep a piece of wire in my stake bag for splicing. I can either rig something temporary or make new whoopies and use sticks for tree protection. Though not so long ago i would go out and sleep cowboy on purpose. still do when there's a lack of hammockability

Another reason I am glad I took a "hit" on the extra ounces and went with the AWS on my blackbird. I never forget my suspension :P

I must say, when I first opened the thread, I thought something broke and you came crashing down.

    Glad that wasn't the case

I mark every hammock sack and tarp sack with the type of hammock or tarp inside with a black or silver sharpie marker.

I also keep all the hammock suspension and or tarp suspension straps, Dutch Clips ect
/lines in said stuff sack. The only thing I keep separate are the tent stakes as I purpose pack those depending on the type of ground I expect to encounter (sandy or rocky ect)
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

After playing with different suspension ideas I had a similar experience, but I was close enough to hike back to the car when I realized what happened!

Talk about a view, what a great spot that is!

LOL! I feel your pain. Been there, done that. Now use a spreadsheet for packing so I don't forget important stuff. I used to laugh at people who needed s spreadsheet for a memory. Not any more.
