I know the strap/buckle gets a lot of love here on the forum but my hands just struggle with them for some reason. I'd actually rather tie a slipped buntline hitch on a line/strap suspension, cuz it's fun.
I went with whoopies early on and never looked back. Easily solved the "trees to close" problem several different ways which was also fun.
In the end, you will become comfortable with a system and that will be your "preferred."

Oh no, after reading this tread I have concluded that line/STRAP suspension wasent the best choice when i placed an order for a bb.
Ive been thinking about it for a couple of days, and now - after reading this....
Have just e-mailed warbonnetoutdoors, asking if the suspension option can be changed.

I use whoopies on a JRB/BMBH and find if I want to take a little slack out of the rig, it takes 1 arm, 1 hand, and teeth to tighten. The arm holds the weight of the hammock at the apex of the triangle and allows slack in the line. The hand pushes up against the "Chinese finger puzzle" of the whoppie and the teeth pull the other line through taking up the slack. That being said, I've ordered a WBRR with the adjustable straps. Stay tuned for a comparison later this year. My gf and I are doing a 7 day backpack in the ADK's in late August and I'll know by the end of that trip which is easier.

Not to try to change your mind but a fair warning. If you go with whoopies dont forget to double check for your straps before you leave. My niece came over last weekend and we hung my xlc, my son's wbbb and our loaner for my niece. The loaner has whoopies on it. Got everything down and looked up there today to see her straps still hanging from the trees.

Just got an email from Brandon, they changed the suspension to the webbing kind on my order.

Webbing, it's just too simple and fits all situations and never had a slip.
Gotta love them straps. You can just get so close to the tree when needed. Sometimes I forget that there's not enough room for the superfly to get strung up. The only thing I want to put in is a dutch buckle in place of the triangles.
But haven't decided on whether or not to use a continuous loop and retie ridgeline to that or through in a soft shackle inside BB at ridgeline so I can take it down when I wanna just sit in it without it in my face " ah all the options"
The webbing is heavier, but very nice to use. Dutch clips complete the set up nicely. You can hang on closer trees than whoopie slings and it is less fiddling than the cord and tree straps.
After setting up my Blackbird I got to "play" with my son's HH Scout this past weekend. The tree straps were too short among other issues... At least I planned ahead and had the descending rings and carabiners for him. The Warbonnet webbing is the only way to fly!
