I know hammocks aren't allowed in Miss State parks. This is in a national forrest I think. Are hammocks allowed here?

I feel sure they are if u r in the woods. Or r u in a developed camp ground ? I have hammock camped many times in Trace State Park, Tishomingo state park and Piney Grove often with no hassles.
+1 on what Billy said. If it's a national park, you're good to go. Most will want you to camp in designated campsites but so long as you are using tree huggers it's all good.
Just curious, where you heading to?
Happy hanging.

Is it this spot?

You could call Fred and Suzy, the campground hosts, and ask.
You always have to make a decision: Do I ask, or just go for it? Because if you just go for it, someone may- or may not- ask you not to hang from their trees. If you ask though, they may scratch there heads for a minute and then just do the safe thing and say no. For example, I have not ever asked at the MS state and National Forest camps I mentioned, and so far no one has objected. One time at Trace a worker came up on a cold morning to ask me if I had slept in that thing the night before, amazed. But I guess if you wanted to be safe you could ask, and maybe explain about tree huggers. But I think I will continue to not ask.

I like your style Billybob. Forgiveness is much easier to ask for than permission.

Here in North Carolina when I camp at a state park and they ask if I am a tenter or an RV'er, I tell them I am using a hammock and they mark down tent.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !
