I think you should continue planning the original RRG trip, and maybe Clifty could be done another time.

NC Patrick, my standing offer is for you, too. If you want to go to the Gorge with us, park your vehicle at my place and ride the rest of the way to the Gorge with me. You'll be passing by Lexington anyway, so you may as well rest the remainder of the trip!

Thanks for the offer Hooch, I may take you up on that if I'm able to swing that trip.

The Clifty Wilderness area is in the Red River Gorge. It's just a less traveled area. Some of the trails that run through the area are:

    Sections of the Sheltowee Trace
    Swift Camp Creek Trail
    Rock Bridge Trail
    Wildcat Trail
    Osborne Bend Trail
    Lost Branch Trail

This is area is has some hard trails and is not frequented by as many casual day hikers as some of the other areas in the Gorge. Basically the area of the RRG west of Hwy 715 is considered "Clifty Wilderness Area"

I'm pretty sure that the picture with the spiral rock formation in the gallery I linked to earlier is in a really pretty spot called Don Juan's Garden.

HC4U, looks like we are well on our way to a group hike and hang at RRG, all we have to do is get our dates good and it's on!

As long as it is not like the trail that Doctari and I took you suggested. Although the asphault was not too bad hiking on for the first and last mile of the trail.

I'm all about this trip, and will go wherever you guys want to. Take the lead, and I'll be more than happy to follow. I just hope we can do it on a weekend when I'm off from work, I'm really excited about going and would hate to miss it.

That was the Rock Bridge/Swift Camp Creek Trail. Was there something wrong with the trail?
