So I went on an overnighter this weekend (6-6-13 to 6-7-13) and had a very close call. A widow-maker crashed down through my campsite. The tree was about 50 feet from the place I decided to hang and was so covered in vines and new growth that until it started losing huge branches during the storm I didn't even know it was there. The area of camp the widow-maker came down in was the first location I picked to hang, but had abandoned the site due to the unknown vines growing around one of the trees. Instead I used one of the trees and sung around to catch another tree on the other side. What a lucky break as I said the branch would have landed directly on top of my setup, after the move the nearest branch was a mere two feet away from my tarp. I think I was lucky.....
