Questions about splicing Zing-It

Oh now I'm mad at myself! I can't figure out why, but when I was making my locked brummels with one end of the rope it kept adding a "double twist" in the rope instead of bringing it back to normal so it would be smooth and streamlined when I tightened it. Happened on 3/4 that I made yesterday, but it didn't happen when I made my whoopies or adjustable ridgeline. Today I thought about it and realised I could have avoided the frustration (and having funky-looking locked brummels that probably have even more reduced strength) if I had made the locked brummels using both ends of the rope! D'oh

Yep...I always use both ends to make the locked brummel. Much easier, faster and there is no problem passing a finished eye through as some people seem to think...https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...3&postcount=32

That, and when my Stingerz get here it will actually be possible to get them locked in the eye loops

Now today I got the tie-outs for the doors finished. Either tomorrow or saturday I should be getting my line-loks, then I can run to REI and get some shock cord and I'm in business! Once my tarp gets here it is only a matter of attaching all my lines. In the words of Shug, "Whoooo buddy!"

Hmmm. Once I put my zing-it through my line-loks, will it be safe to melt the ends to keep it from unravelling or should I backsplice the tail?

I've always back spliced as melting has not worked well for me with zing it, amsteel, etc.

Actually, I usually have an eye splice on both ends and make adjustments with a continuous loop prusik'd to the guyline...options are good.

It works great on the 2.2mm, I should have said it works ok on the 1.75mm, but it does work.

I hadn't tried amsteel or zing-it, but I was hopeful that someone else had! I guess I will backsplice my lines after I feed them through the line-loks. Probably a more secure solution, too!

I have actually used these with great success also! They work a little better for the smaller lines.
