    550 cord for guide lines?

I've even used trail marking ribbon in a pinch

I like the pink mason line
    NO Tripping (well Less Tripping)

cheap and locally available (loews, Home Depot and Menards all have it)

It is not as light and tangle free as Zing-It / Lash-IT but it works
"HANGING OUT" has taken on a whole NEW MEANING

I have found it to work better than any rope or cord on the market today....
That's way overkill and you want the rope to break before the tarp shreds.

And to the op, I think you are meaning to ask about a ridgeline. Guy lines are the ones that hold the perimeter(corners) to the ground and the ridgeline goes between trees to hold the roof up.

Same stuff on my current kit. I wind it up figure 8 around a couple fingers and it stays tangle free enough for me. Zing-it on order though for the CRL, I'm happy enough with a four prussic set up, and am ready to start doing some splicing.

Ridge line thats it thats the one that goes down the center of the tarp right and on my setup it is only supporting the tarp not connected to hammock. Thank you very much I am new to this.

    Mule tape for guylines? Wow.
Thats what I was thinking guylines are for the stake lines and the ridge line is what supports the tarp center line. I think I got it now thanks for the info.

    Correct.

If that's all you got is paracord, you can use it for now. But it stretches a lot and its really heavy. Your tarp will sag pretty bad especially if it rains and the cord gets wet. I wouldn't use paracord for anything relating to a hammock or tarp.

I think paracord works well and it doesn't seem to stretch much to me. I use a truckers hitch so I can tension my ridgelines and guy lines easily. That said, I bought a spool of Zing-it from Redden and I figured out how to splice it but I just haven't gotten around to swapping everything out yet.

My $.02 is para cord works fine for now, no rush.

I do love my paracord, but use it less and less.. I wrench down my ridgeline so It never really stretched all that much for me to be a bother.. However it does suck up the water and gets heavy.. Lash it saved me a lot of weight and is my go to ...With some Dutch bling..
We would be one step closer to world peace, if everyone slept in a hammock..

Yep looks like I will replace the paracord with zing it or something. I hate sag.
