Anybody ever tested anything like this? All loops are locked. Used in conjunction with a marlin spike.

I haven't but it's an interesting idea. I may have to see if I have any extra amsteel to try it out. Thanks.

It's a creative idea but one of the things people like about whoopie slings is the micro adjustability. If that is not a concern, its an interesting idea. I'd be interested to see how the locks hold up over time.
Don't let life get in the way of living.
I have worn out two sets of whoopies at the point of the bury, and they don't adjust as easily as they should. Got bored and tried something new. The loops hold well. I'll post how they hold up over time later. Tested to 300 lb currently.
Just guessing here, but the splices have strength in a linear pull. Looped over a MSH the splice will be pulled in a direction that tends to separate the strands and greatly derate the strength. At least that's my guess.

You are correct about separation of the strands....but the separation is minimal, and the amsteel corrects itself fairly well after weight has been stressed. I don't anticipate more than 300 lb strength, but im 175 and it works very well. Has anyone else had problem adjusting there whoopies when they are wet?
