Ends of hammock getting wet in rain

Interested in any input experienced hammock users have regarding water running down hammock suspension system during rain and wetting the ends of hammock. Tarp covering hammock with plenty of overage cover. Currently using strap system with metal adjustor/connector, positioned to act as drip point and located under the tarp once set up and adjusted. Am experiencing slight to moderate wetting of hammock ends during prolonged periods (12-24 hrs) of straight down moderate rain.

Easy fix to this. Take a couple of shoe laces (or any other string) and tie it just above the hammock. They are called drip lines.

If you could give a little more info on your set up, which hammock do you have, and what kind of buckles are you using.

I would guess, that if you have a single piece of webbing coming from the end of the hammock, around the tree, and back to your buckle, you just don't have enough of a break. The water can still soak the webbing, and make it past the buckle. The only webbing that I use, it the tree huggers, the rest is Amsteel. Then one of several different options to act as a water break. Biners, Dutch whoopie hooks, or just a piece of cotton string tied around the Amsteel, under the tarp.

If you want to keep the full length of webbing, I am not sure of the best way to keep the water out.....RR

Ends of hammock getting wet in rain

Hammock, DIY ripstop nylon , end folded and stitched to itself. 1in wide polypropylene strap sewn in loop, passed through channel formed by stitched hammock ends then lark's headed. Metal adjusters, two "eights" elongated at sides and sandwiched together. Speculate these connectors, sandwiched together, allow water to pass through as a result of surface adhesion of water to metal at area where two metal pieces touch?

Try a couple of shoelaces - 1 per adjuster assuming the adjusters are under the tarp.
    YMMV

This has been my own solution.

HH & WBBB: Gathered End to Larkshead knot to climbing grade ring to whoopie sling suspension. Ring is sheltered by the tarp, and in event of rain, I slide the grey hairband to the middle of the ring and position it to hang down. Water goes down the ring to the band but not back up the other side. Has yet to fail.

Note ignore the plastic carbiner in the foreground clipped to the ring and obscuring the hammock larkshead. It supports my undequilt shockcords. In bad weather, I clip it just above the hammock.

I use shoelaces that I coated with candle wax. Seems to work fine and simple.

    Yes.
Another option is to use whoopie slings and a toggle.
They provide an adequate water break.
And whoopies/amsteel is hydrophobic, so its like a ducks back.

I cut some 1' wide Sham Wow strips and have them tied around the suspension just under the tarp. They absorb the water and then drip off the two ends of the ribbon. I live in East TN too and the rains we've been getting have been overwhelmingly abundant! This last one flooded the Nolichucky....again!
