I learned a valuble lesson at a Minnesota campround hang: mosquitos can bite through silnylon!! I forgot and layed down with my arms over the sides of my bag and got eaten up in 20 minutes. Scratch, scratch!

Chlorhexadine works very well, I mix with water to a light blue, spritz it on the damaged area of my skin. Benadryl also works well, I like the spay, I can put it right were I need it and it works very fast.
Two weeks ago my daughter, dogs and myself were lunch for newly hatched skeeters. I think next trip I will take some bug repellent. My eye even swelled shut, gee they were hungry she devils.
I spray the bottom of the hammock with permethrin. Not a single bite when you do that.
They are one of my biggest pet peeves. Was fishing lastnight and had to shut it down. We were running the risk of being carried away.

Take a look at mosquito sleeves web site.
For those of you who stay away from chemicals (I'm now going more with this life style everyday) there is an alternative: http://www.mosquitobarrier.com/
It is a garlic concentrate, totally non-toxic and also works on ants and ticks. Its not cheap but I don't have to worry about my dogs or kids. Plus if a bird or something else eats a bug that has been sprayed there is no harm.
I have used this stuff for a few years until I lost it when I moved a year ago. We had a yard sale this last weekend and when combined with all the rain we have had in Central Arkansas plus 90+ degree heat. We had a few thousand new hatch lings and we were the buffet.
I proceeded to dig through the barn to find my Garlic Elixir and after two gallons of non-toxic spraying we were Mosquito free! Albeit smelled a little like a garlic factory, (where did I put that butter?).
I ordered some of those KITE patches a few days ago. Haven't gotten them in yet, but I am hoping they work as good as they sound.
