What is your favorite summer hammock? I'm talking about the kind of summers where it is humid and hot, with mosquitoes out. I like to be able to just wear a thin T-shirt and shorts, and not have to deal with hanging or putting anything underneath myself. I like lots of open netting for maximum ventilation. Are there any hammocks that fill this need?
Pretty much as long as it's made out of a breathable non coated fabric then any hammock will do. W/e you find most comfortable.
Having a double layer hammock is a good start because it tends to means a misalignment of the holes between the two layers, making a mosquito's job of finding a place to insert more difficult. I have heard several complaints in the past of people who were finding mosquitos were going through their single layer hammocks. Another solution is to bring the quilt along and lightly drape it underneath to keep the mosquitos from accessing the hammock fabric. Man, is anyone else suddenly feeling all itchy?!
My wife's bugnet is basically a hammock-sock made of netting. This helps keep the skeeters away from the hammock itself. It was made for a double hammock, so it's plenty large.
As for the hammock itself, my wife and I both use DIY gathered end double layer hammocks.
