    My New UCR-based Suspension

Suspension has been the most difficult thing for me to figure out but now I'm happy with this new system just completed. It is two UCRs each 16.5 feet long made of 1/8" Amsteel. They have 12" buries and are lark's headed to 4' of heavy duty polyester straps. It feels solid and doesn't slip at all. Thanks to Fallkniven and Sgt. Rock for their instructions on the UCRs. It's a light, simple, straightforward way to hang between trees.

My SRL is also 1/8" and I came to that dimension experimenting with a SLS inspired by olddog, bear chaser, and headchange4you.

Your hammock will likely break before that suspension. I would like to see what it looks like.

That's a bomber system. I'd also like to the pics.

    Reason for the Strength

The reason I like the 1/8" material is the principle learned from SLS systems -- the ability to span distances without having to climb a tree to do it.

One could call this an interrupted SLS. It interrupts the single line with carabineers into which one can clip all kinds of stuff at the hammock.

I was trying to figure out why such a long and sturdy ucr setup but seeing the distance you have to span it makes sense now. Looks great. Thankfully the trees I have are closer in my yard but gives me some ideas. Since I lightened my load so dramatically getting rid of my tent I could definitely consider a slightly beefier suspension. Thanks.
