Quick clip so I don't have to pass hammock sling thru itself

Basically looking for a cheap type of Dutch clip. I didn't know if "Dutch clip" was a proprietary term that only referred to Dutchware products or if that is the generic name for those clips. I don't use the hammock much but still prefer getting some type of inexpensive clip rather than passing the end of my strap thru the hole in the end. Thanks!

Use a carabiner. That was the method before there were Dutch clips. Same function, carabiner weighs more and is bulky but cheaper. Depends if you backpack or car camp.

If you're comfortable with knots, use a slipped buntline hitch and skip the hardware altogether.

For winter hammocking, I use a climbing rated carbineer because it is simple and easy to handle with gloves on. Otherwise, I just use the built in loop on my strap since it's already there, simple and why bother with more hardware.

If you decide on carabiners, get carabiners that are hammock weight rated.

Biner is the way to go if you want max functionality and don’t mind the extra ounce or 2. But just be aware that there are many suitable biners that only weigh about an ounce each. Don’t make the mistake of getting an overly built biner if you are going to be carrying it around all day!

I'm car camping usually. I might simply order a couple Eno replacement carabiners. They are $4.95 each with free shipping at Eno.

If you're comfortable with a sewing machine, just sew a loop in the end and skip the knots altogether ;-)
