Another item used for tarp tieouts is braided mason line. It's ~ 20-40lbs break strength and very inexpensive per roll. I use pink because it is easyer to see. To store it, just wrap in figure 8 around your finger and thumb.

Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you
That sounds very sensible since you have the Amsteel. UCRs seem to be gaining in popularity, and they use less Amsteel (I'm not on that bandwagon yet) than Whoopies.
I use Zing-it 1.75 mm for my tarp ridgeline and guy-outs, but I would think mason line would do just as well.
Should be getting delivered to me today, but I'm planning on trying out this line for my tarp ridgelines. I'm also going to mod a few stuff sacks with the stuff because it's super grippy and I think a prussik will work well on it.
Z-Line Spectra. You can get it at Zpacks.com

Both cords are over 200lbs tensile strength.
Available in Yellow, or Black. The yellow cord is extremely bright and easy to see as guy-lines. It is not reflective but it does stand out well at night with a headlamp.

I am very excited to try it.
Nothing to add, I think everyone else covered what I would suggest but I also wanted to take the opportunity to say hello!
Cheers from Cherry Hill - hopefully we will meet one day as there aren't as many hangers in NJ as other places I've lived.
What you talking 'bout, Willis? NJ is crawling with hangers!
To name a few, NJRedneck, Deadphans, Jerzeybears, Dylan, Syb, Silent Orpheus, Kayak Karl, JayS, Knotty, Perrito, fallkniven, Iafte, brownham, mrsmileyns, fishbait, jhunt87, Silent Bob, SoundWitness, bundy71, nf4x4fever, Ratdog, `and countless others I can't remember. NJ represents!
Check out the NJ Winter Hang Jan 2013.
