Would anyone be interested in a San Diego winter hang? I'm booked up until late fall-winter.

Any updates on this meet? I just got an ENO DoubleNest as my first hammock, with Atlas Straps and I have a Poncho Liner for an under quilt on order.

    Looking to try things out.

I'm out of vacation days for the year and frankly have spent too much time away from my wife with all of my excursions over the course of the last few months so I will likely be out of the loop until next Spring when I can put together the Blue Jay Hang again.

But if I can offer some advice as a guy who was able to get one of these things off the ground (forgive the pun): Someone needs to just take charge with a plan including dates and a location they are familiar with and announce it is happening instead of opening the door to a bunch of dicussion and waffling around about the matter.

If it's a good spot, and the SoCal hanging community (including Pedro in AZ) have enough lead time to plan, people will come. Make it happen, you guys.

    Just my two cents.

PS: Hope to see all of you in the Spring!

PPS: Friend me on here if you want to be included with an invite for the Spring.

This thread made me smile. I live in NY, but there's a strong chance I'm moving to LA with my job early next year. I just got into hammock camping (and camping in general) a few months ago. I'm blessed to live within a few hours of some amazing places to camp. I was concerned about how it would be out there, but I think I'll be just fine.

And I'm not gonna lie - hearing about a winter hang made me chuckle. I'm hoping to still be out east in January when they're planning a winter hang in MA. Last year it was single digits and 20 inches of snow on the ground. Now THAT'S a winter hang.

For my SoCal future-brethren - how chilly are the nights on the trails there? Right now I'm using a 20* tq and uq. I'm assuming this may be a little bit of over kill.

Count me in for a winter hang! (and as I mentioned in a separate thread, when we say 'winter hang' here in socal, we mean something different then our friends in MN).

I'd like to do at least one big group hang during the winter, but I'm always interested in smaller weekend trips if anyone is up for those: like Arrowhead, Big Bear, Idyllwild, etc. Sometimes ya gotta go where the trees are. Either hike-in or jeep-in.
