That would be a helpful post if it came with detailed explanations so i could apply it.

Means as stated...hand the foot a wee bit higher than head. Usually the preferred hang.

Not understanding convection and the need for properly executed under insulation.
Meaning that in a hammock you feel the cold from underneath you thus you need either a pad, underquilt or some other sort. Normally in temps of 70º or lower.

Not understanding the performance differences of Poly vs Nylon in conjunction with suspension materials.
Meaning tree-straps. Nylon is known to stretch. Poly does not.

Differences between Structural and Continuous ridge lines.
Meaning Structural is a hammock ridgeline. Continuous is a rigdeline choice used on tarps.

Dynamic forces involved for the above.
I believe the breaking point of said ridge lines.
    Hope that helps a bit.
    Carry forth.

Or trees too far apart and needing a ladder to get the tree straps high enough up the tree for an ideal angle. Also causing you to have to pitch your tarp 10 feet high to avoid hitting the hammock suspension.

When DIY'ing a bugnet, being over confident and not pinning the net before sewing. Turns out the net was off by 1' when I finished... the result? RRRRIIIIPPPP..... followed by *&#$^#%@$!*&^$ and lots of thread de-injecting. . .

Other mistakes? hanging low, and putting my tarp really low for no good reason. You should be high enough that the raccoons don't bump you when they go under your hammock...

Um... thinking DIY was "cheaper" when it's really an addiction... I've made >10 hammocks...

Do not use 1/2" conduit in a tri-pod formation to hang from when its raining out & windy.. No good comes from that combo.. Ground hurts. Yep, done that.. Hurts!!!
Obey, the Rules of the hammock loads.. ( Hammock App is golden).
Small tree's with soft soil, makes for fast trip to the dirt. yep, done that..Hurts the back side & pride. ( Sorry no photos )

Hmm.. Re-thinking the tent peg's & shock cord use.

Donate to the Hammock forum. It's a gem of real world info from users that care. And has changed the Hammock way of life.

Not reading "The Ultimate Hang" and watching Shug's video series for Noobs...BEFORE attempting to camp in a hammock (without insulation, tarp, bug net, etc...not that I know anyone like that.)
