How do I go about setting a ridge line to give me a 30 degree angle on my hammock?

Don't get all hung up (pardon the pun) on the exact angle try different angles and test the comfort at each adjustment until it feels 'right' and then set your ridgeline. I would use an adjustable line until you're happy. I use a slippery hitch on one end even now in case I want to tweak it.

You have to know the ridge line length of your hammock. If you don't know, some use 83% of the hammock length. But remember, these are just "sort of" and "kind of" figures - just an estimate.
