    HH Adventure Racer Help!

I have a HHULB and love it. I also have a 10 ounce Speer type for winter use. I am more comfortable in my Hennesy. I am considering an HH Adventure Racer for summer use to reduce weight considerably (1 pound less than my HHULB). I know that the Adventure Racer is not recommended for general backpacking but I only get to do one or two week-long trips a year and a few weekend trips throughout the year. I am very easy on all my gear and take very good care of it. I am 5'9" and 160 pounds so I am not too large for the AR. It seems to me that adventure racing would be tougher on gear than backpacking. Has anyone here used the Adventure Racer and if so how did or does it hold up? Or just what are your opinions?

we'll see what some of the others who are more familiar w/ HH say when they get around to it, but my initial thought is that like others have said, the gear makers are going to leave themselves some lee way on the limitations they suggest.
and because you take care of your gear i would think it would do you well. ...tim
I too will something make and joy in it's making

I had the adventure racer. I am only 5'7" and I thought it was a bit too short.

On a Side: The materials seems to be 1.1oz DWR, so I decided to make my own. I made it slightly longer and wider. I don't have bug netting on it, but with my ring buckles and a cat cut tarp it is only a few ounces heavier than the HHAR.

i have seen one being used by a camper in a park a year ago..he said he was very pleased with his and had been using it for quite some time...i am sure it is a quality piece of gear..but i am a bit leary of making it my only hammock..that thin material is very unforgiving of a scratch or abrasion..just my 2 cents worth
