I thought this was a kayak camping trip. Looks like we're going to get some cooking lessons also. Lord knows I need some!

I cant paddle if I dont eat and one of the beauties of the kayak is that once in the water it really doesnt care how heavy it is; that's not saying I don't care but some luxuries in a backpack are suddenly necessities paddle camping. Being able to bake in the woods has come a long way and it's now weight equitable between paddling or hiking. Last night's baking session was an impulse after walking down the baking aisle at the grocery; always trying something new--cant be muffins all the time and really want to try Shugs pineapple upside down cake in the Batchstovez......but you're right I should be practicing wet exits, self rescues, sculling braces. I'm relaxed 'cause I know Ragnall's got my back!

I got your back. I have gotten really good at falling out/off of the Kayak. If you need any assistance in that dept. I got you covered. I am hoping not to demo this skill on the trip though.

One thing I learned long long ago is always have a lightweight backpack in the kayak....one time I did have to hike out and stash the kayak for later retrieval.
Now why did I mention that. I have no idea.

It's the short term memory loss that goes first MM! You should know this from your profession! ;-)

...Now, where did I put my keys...?
Afoot and light-hearted, I take to the open road,
Healthy, free, the world before me,
The long brown path before me, leading wherever I choose.

Ragnall and I are going to do a trip on Percy Priest Lake, Nashville, Nov 1-3 in prep for this trip. Probably around 10 mile days with a short paddle out Sunday morning. If anyone else is interested just send one of us a pm.

So close now....we've done a couple of prep paddle camps.
So how many are now truly committed? I fully realize winter expedition paddling is not for every one ( ) just remember that land is never that far away!

I have an overnight kayak camping trip this coming weekend with the Hoosier canoe club. We'll be on Lake Monroe near Bloomington Indiana. All of my cool weather kayak camping has been just weekends. I'm looking forward to this longer trip on Kentucky lake. Did my first official hang 2weeks ago at the HoosierHalloween hang. Looking forward to meeting everyone
