So before i send boy to ground

So yesterday at a yardsale bought this 7oz hammock with whoopies. Was a little leary about it but what the heck for $2.00 how could you go wrong. Well my boy has already claimed it and slept in it last night when we got home. But my question is there is a small end channel and am wanting to make it into a gathered end. From watching knotty's video on how to gather the ends. would there be any weight put onto the end channel?? I'm thinking no but that's just my logic as everything would be hooked on behind the gathered end bulb?? like my BB. Or do I need to just fold ends down 3 inches to make a bigger end channel with the 3 rows of stitching that I've seen on most hammocks

Folded down to 3" with 3 rows of stitching and you're good to go.
    That's how BIAS does it.

If you are larks heading the suspension system to the hammock all you need to stop is the suspension from sliding off the fabric. At that point it is kind of what ever feel most comfortable with. I have usually done a 1" rolled hem which has given me enough of a bulb to ease my paranoia. But that is a highly subjective measure.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

You are correct. The gathered end method in my video does not put strain on the end channel and the stitching. The load is spread out across the material and the bulb keeps the suspension from slipping off the end.
