Basically just redid my personal hanging setup:
SLD Streamliner DL 1.1 Custom size
SLD Mosquito Defender 360 Shaved Down
SLD Wind Breaker
AHE Shangri La
AHE New River
AHE Owyhee
Dynaglide all around for mounting with AHE Cinch Buckles.
Using my wife's thread injector ... I would DIY everything.
"The longer I wait, the more I learn and the more $$ I save."
"Por que la leche queste mas, que los huevos...."
If I had to start over, I would get less. How much can a backpacker carry if he carries on his back?
If I started all over again, I'd make everything myself. Finding the time for that is another thing.
I've spent a fair amount of thought/time/money/effort building, rebuilding, and testing my DIY setup. I consider it to be an excellent setup for myself. If I had to do it all over again, I would shortcut all the hours and money to rebuild exactly what I have, but make the new sock that I'm currently planning.
Darn! Now all can think about is giving my setup away, just so I can do it all over again! LOL
If I started again from scratch....

SUL down vest western mountaineering etc
SUL down coat with hood like a montbell UL
Heavier down coat with hood like a montbell Alpine
Some other montbell stuff.
Maybe a few more odds and ends, smartwool, drysocks etc
1. As SilvrSurfr said, don't skimp on the tarp. Get the best tarp and really tie it down. The wind can take away everything you have in an instant, if you don't. I'm happy with the WB Cloudburst, but doors would be nice, so I'd get a Superfly.
2. Sleep is important to me. I'd keep my Ridgerunner hammock.
3. Topquilt. Better than a sleeping bag. I'd keep the HG Burrow.
4. Underquilt? I don't know...With a good quality inflatable pad you can go to ground. I worry about that. And a good wide pad is pretty awesome in a bridge. I'd get a full size Neoair all season or xtherm
5. I'd stick with Dutchware clips, Stingerz.
6. Stick with straps. Whoopies are too fiddly.
7. I'd buy way more line or cord. Can't have too much dynaglide.
8. i'd Learn about knots sooner. Tautline, modified Evenk, Truckers hitches.
9. I'd buy 2 pots with bale handles so I can recover them from a fire easily.
10. I'd stick with the simplest alcohol stove...a fancy feast type.
11. I'd get an Ursack so I don't have to waste time and energy hanging bear bags.
12. Pack liners, not pack covers.
