    Talking DIY Hammocks

Well I figured I would share a few of my recent hammocks that I have made. Wish I had spend a few mins and taken pictures of some of the hammocks that I gave away to my friends. Anyway, there is some pics of my 2 most recent hammocks I made.

First one is made of 40D 1.9oz Digital Camo Ripstop Nylon. 115" x 65"
Double Layered with pad insert entrance
Used 7/64 Black Amsteel UCRs for suspension with matching 1" x9' Polyester Webbing Straps. This is actually #3 of this hammock that I have made. Made 2 others for friends prior but had zip-away bugnets. Adjustable Ridge Line (UCR)

Second one is a Single layer 30D 1.1oz MARPAT camouflage Ripstop Nylon 126" x 66". Attached bug net with two #3 double tab zipper pulls.
Adjustable ridge line made with 2mm Dynaglide UCR.
Suspension is two 6' Dynaglide UCRs with 8' of Mule tape for webbing and attached aluminum toggles for MSH. Total hammock weight (including suspension and stuff sack) is 17.4 oz.

Ill upload some more pics soon when I finish this next hammock.

Thanks Yoda. I could get the hammock about an ounce lighter if I dried out the Wet mule tape before weighing it...lol....Plus those thick aluminum toggles weigh about 0.5oz a piece and i'm sure I could get a lighter material. Willing to bet I could get the entire kit under 16oz if I really wanted to.

I have yet to make myself a hammock yet. Every hammock I have made, I given away until recently I sold one to help fund my UQ projects that are coming up..Unfortunately I will probably have to sell this UL hammock also. Buying enough down for the family is expensive for a college student. I might have to order more material too. I miscalculated on how much was left on my roll and sold off too much of it.

I'm sure it will all work out, just keep doing what your doing and all will be well.

    Those are some nice hammocks!

Is there a reason you have the ucr's inverted?

Inverted? Not sure what you're talking about.

The tail end is next to the tree and adjustable end is at the hammock, or am I seeing things? Xx

Yes you see things correctly but not sure how it is considered inverted. I consider it to be on correctly or at least how I find it most functionable. Guess its a perspective thing.

    Nice looking hammocks!
Curious where you are positioning the tie outs?
I realize it is a preference thing, but I'm just looking for a starting point.

    Thanks,
    jason
