New to the world of hammocks

So all of my friends around me are getting hammocks.
What would be the best route to take pm getting a first hammock that is well priced. The price tag isn't being set, if it a good deal, I want it.

I can get 30% off of eno's and grand trunks a a local store. That is also a deal breaker, I need it by Saturday also...

Tell me all the bells and whistles I need to buy to make it better (I've heard the term slap strap tossed around).

Welcome to the Hammock family. I just wanted to say hi and I will let the others who are more qualified speak.

Go ahead and grab a ENO or Grand Trunk. Go with the double wide if possible. Both are good hammocks and will get you started on the slippery slope we call hammock hanging.

Needing it by Sat seriously limits you, which is unfortunate. ENO and GT are ok starter hammocks but most people (not all though) move on from them when they find out everything else that's out there. I'd lean more towards the GT, like a Skeeter Beeter, because by the time you buy the hammock, bugnet and suspension for the ENO you could have bought a good hammock. Don't use slap straps. They will stretch, you need polyester straps. Ratchet straps from Home Depot will work.

You'll still need a tarp and insulation as well.

It's too bad that you're buying this based on speed. I'm afraid you're gonna end up with a sub par system that you're just gonna wanna change out soon.

Check REI and see if they have any Hennesseys in stock. They're good hammocks, resell well and are complete kits, including a tarp. You might even be able to get one quickly online somewhere.

If you don't weigh more than 200#, maybe 250 I'll hafta double check, I have an old Hennessey I'll sell you cheap with a money back guarantee. Try it this weekend, if you like it keep it, if not send it back and I'll refund your money minus return shipping. Comes with the tarp as well.

+1 on Eno, GT and the double wide for more diagonal laying options

I probably should have noted my intentions:

I won't be going backpacking anytime soon (ofcourse I will in the future and this could work)

But Im a sophomore in High school and we have cross country camp next week (it's a camp in the mountains so I might use it then)

However I want to get something that I can be comfortable it, nothing too flashing, but get the extras to be comfortable (I don't need a tarp or a bug net just yet.

I want to use it to lay down with my girlfriend also, she has one and uses it all the time, so I want to be able to comfortably lay with her.

    Just a few things ^^

    Also:

I weigh 140, and she weighs no more than 110
