    New kid hanger from SC

Hello, I am 13 years old and what got me into hanging was my family wanted to get into backpacking. Because we were new to the idea we started looking at videos of people's tent set ups. Then we saw a hammocker and fell in love but we were not sure how practical they would be. That led us to Shug's videos and they were awesome! We started to buy hammock gear and started hanging outside at night. That led to our first hammock trip. We learned maps are important in the mountains and our backpacks were too heavy and fell apart. We are planning another trip in Sept. near the Chatooga River in SC so I need to learn more before we go. I look forward to being part of the forum!

Welcome. Keep an eye out for a group hang on the Chattooga at Burrells ford this fall. You and your family can get a serious crash course in hammocks and camping.

I love camping at Burrells Ford. I'm glad I popped in to greet this young fella. I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for that as well.

Welcome to the forum. It's a wonderful place to learn the in's and out's of hammocking. Burrell's ford is great. I find myself camping down there 5-6 times a year.
