Why did you go from a LW hammock to a heavy, if I may ask?

I'm a little confused by how many people seem to be getting the double 1.7 lately as well. My fiance and I have both gotten into a 1.1 double together and had no worries at all about it failing. The only reason to get a double 1.7, in my opinion, is to minimize fabric stretch, and it just doesn't seem like that big a deal to me.

Go for the double-less battles with a pad for a few oz's.

main reason for me was instead of sticking to the pad or pads as I move during the night, I can move more freely. Also maybe an extra wind breaker.

It was recommended for me (245 lbs of pure goodness haha) to get the 1.7 double because of the less stretch

    I got one cause I'm a lard-butt.
Otherwise, I'll take my next hike with a single layer. I'm just waiting for him to catch up so I should have one ordered sometime in early 2011. My guess is that you are correct about the minimized fabric stretch combined with the fact that not everybody here is a long distance hiker, so a few extra ounces don't bother them for the slightly upgraded comfort of the double 1.7. My guess anyway.
    Trust nobody!

    Good question!

I am 6'1". The Hyperlite is too short for 6+ footers, frankly. I got tired of not enough foot room, also the band of fabric hitting me in the lower left leg (calf). I like the shelf concept and I like to enter into a hammock from the top. Weight is really not a concern for me as I do not carry it (my pack goats do!) So if I take more gear, I just bring another pack goat!

Plus, I like the way that the BB fastens to the trees. Seems a lot faster to me, but what do I know, I haven't even seen one in person yet!

Take a look at my blog and you'll see my packing buddies.
