What size of tarp do I need?

I'm confused as to how to choose the right size for my hammocks. They are both 116" long.

Would a 9' noahs work well? I have an opportunity to buy one fairly cheap.

Also is there a good size/configuration to use to cover two hammocks?
We plan to set up the hammocks using three trees.

I am assuming you are referring to the hammocks length? If so, when you hang it, and have the sag, it will be much shorter. A small tarp can be used. A ridge length of 10' can be used. A little longer would be better.

The Noah 9 is a great tarp. I have one. It is used in a Diamond set up, so the ridgeline is really long, I think somewhere around 17'.

For covering two hammocks, wider is going to be your friend. I don't think the Noah 9 will work with two. Something along the lines of a Warbonnet Superfly or an Wilderness Logics Old Man winter will work great......RR

It depends on what kind of camping you do. Car camping? Backpacking? From kayak or canoe? Ultra-light?

I figured out a way recently (I'm relatively new to this) to put my one hammock under a 9x10' DIY cuben tarp by closing the doors on one end and then the next day fashioned polycro peak beaks to replace the poncho (see pictures below). One forum member said my peak beaks are "brilliant." LOL My interest is light weight because of injuries. But with two hammocks and barring extenuating circumstances I'd think 10x12' is minimum and a 12x12' Noah's ideal. As others have said, the tarp is your most important piece of gear.

Would a 12'x24' tarp be enought to cover both hammocks in the "V" formation?
I haven't had a chance to set them up and see but on paper it works
15' feet between the common tree and the two other trees. and 18' between the two separate trees. If I draw this out and do some math I should have 3' of tarp minimum going past the separate trees.

I dont' know if that made any sense at all... maybe I will draw it out and take a picture.
