Arrow The Solo Hike That Went Off Track

Hello Hammock Forum Members, Bruciehi5 here!

Since a lot of the tracks around here are still closed, due to track damage coursed by, not so resent, flooding rain. I decided to try my luck at some solo off track hiking.

I stuck to plan, for a change, and followed a creek up and over two waterfalls. Then, full of enthusiasm, I headed for a mini mountain top, where, much to my surprise, there was a pretty much 360 degree view of the surrounding area.

Looking forward to some super serious hammock time, I then headed down to the remote “Paddy’s Plan” campground. After 15 fabulous hours in the hammy, and a fair bit of stuffing myself with some fine and dandy forest food, it was time to head on home.

If you feel like torturing yourself, watch the mind numbing 16 minute video I made of the walk. I highly recommend you do some self-medicating before viewing it. If you watch it first thing in the morning, AND, after 2 or 3 big cups of sugar filled coffee, you should be able to stay awake all the way to the half way point. Oh, and... make sure there is nothing nearby, sharp enough to cut yourself with (just a precaution).

If you survive the video, feel free to leave a comment. If you watch it, good luck. If you don’t, good idea!

    Bye for now!

Well Bruce - I survived and without self-medicating. Looks like you got some decent weather for the walk.

Your vids are always entertaining Bruciehi5....

There's also a back door ascent to the summit of Mt Maroon....following a creek upstream, not to far from where you were hanging at Paddy's Plain campsite.

    Any hitchhiking ticks around ?
Mountain views are good for the soul....& getting to them is good for my waistline.

Fine report again, Brucie. I appreciate your nice clear audio. I know you explained your method somewhere once before, but are you using a wireless lavalier mic or recording separately with post-sync? Whichever it is, keep it up. Your ruminations are most entertaining.

I survived the entire video on 1 cup of coffee! It's pretty powerful so i'm not surprised that I was able to keep my eyes open the entire time... Enjoyed the report!
It's not the glide in the ride, it's the swing in the sling...
