Getting to the George W. Outerbridge Shelter

Looking at hiking the AT in Pa. starting in a couple of weeks. My daughter is visiting from Delaware and will be going back so I want her to drop me off after the tunnel on I-476 near Mountain Road. Does anyone know if it is possible to get off at the Pa Turnpike building south of the tunnel? I will then walk up Mountain road and catch the trail. Thanks for any information that anyone can give me!!!!

It's not that difficult to get off the turnpike at Mahonging Valley (Jim Thorpe) and drive to Leheigh Gap (not to mention legal). It would probably cost your daughter about 15 minutes of her time to do it the right way No judgin', just sayin'.

Also, traffic coming out of the tunnel is MOVING. Best to avoid a dangerous situation if you can.
