For me my ENO is a great lounger but a little heavy for backpacking. I have slept many nights in it but I use a Warbonnet Blackbird for my back country outings. It wouldn't be a bad idea to get an ENO to try out hammocking and after you've gotten the hang of it, invest in something else. When I first started I went out and bought all ENO gear and ended up selling everything but the hammock.

No such thing as a "stupid" question. We are all learning, and I am pretty noob to all of this. So even if it seems silly to you to ask, in the future someone else might learn from it, like me

Don't be afraid to ask ANYTHING no matter how weird you think it is to ask.

    GOOD LUCK!

If you are like me and wasn't sure if you could ever give up the tent then ENO is a great option. They are comfy and you really cans get a feel for whether you are ready to convert. I went with an ENO because it was a decent price, it looked durable, and it didn't have an inter grated bug net and I get claustrophobic. But look at all the great vendors here before you take the plunge. I am thinking of maybe getting a BIAS hammock next, light and cheap!

Enos are awesome hammocks, I slept in a double nest every night for two years before splurging on a Mayan.
Hennessys are good starter hammocks, they're fairly cheap, everything is in one bag, and it all goes together quite easily. After your first hang or two, you will want a bigger tarp and will want to change the suspension, which, luckily, is pretty easy to do. After four years of hanging its still my go to hammock for camping

ENOs will always hold a soft-spot for me. An ENO was my first full-time hammock.
That said, they are the shortest of that species of hammock. Trek Lights are, visually, identical to the ENOs but they are significantly longer. Ticket To The Moon (TTTM) hammocks are also longer; although they come up slightly shorter than the Trek Lights. Between those three, ENOs are actually my third choice. Still it's an awfully comfy third place and a great lounging hammock!

I like my ENO Single. The first thing I did when I got it was to replace the stock suspension with whoopies, and throw the carabineers into the tool box. I use my hennessy nylon tree straps, and my hennessy tarp. I dont use the bug net - the ENO is my winter hammock so I dont worry about bugs. I also added a ridgeline to it, so the tarp has something to rest on, and I have somewhere to hang crap like my head lamp, glasses, and other stuff I might want overnight.

I have to disagree about the tarps not providing good coverage. I have weathered at least a few rainy nights in mine and never got a drop on me!
I love my ENO setup which includes Doublenest, Profly and Gaurdian (although I look for every excuse possible to ditch the bug net).
I did swap out the stock carabiners and ropes with continuous loops and climbing carabiners.

I would get the profly if you are getting the one nest. The dryly works but 8 attachment points is kind of a pain in the arse.

The ENO DN was my first hammock. Since then I have purchased a Warbonnet for overnight hikes, but still keep the DN in my daypack. Eno makes a very good hammock.
    Straight out of Clayton.

Most physical hike: Grandfather Mountain, NC. Aug 13.

I don't need to make my pack lighter. I need to make my (_*_) lighter.
