    Tarp Color: Poll

Looking at Cuben Fiber tarps from HG and Z Packs -
having a hard time deciding between white and olive drab.

I like that white will allow lots of brightness in - but appears that it may be slightly translucent. Olive drab seems quite light and slightly more opaque, but photos can be deceiving.

Please share your experiences with either or each if you can.

Are there any other pros and cons?

They are both pretty see through but I like olive if only so it is not a beacon to tell everyone where I am.

I may do a lot of slightly traspassy stealth hangs.

Clear will let the most light in,,but all colors are pretty opaque. I have a green and black,,and love both, but I really think the green is my fav. No,,,its the black, hummm,,green, heck,,decisions,,decisions,,get one, but be warned,,cuben is like dutch bling,,very addictive.

Hamhocker had a cuben fiber tarp and didn't like it. The early morning sun woke her up before she wanted to get up

    I can see that.
I'm usually up before the sun is anyway so I'm okay with the brightness it will bring.

I much prefer olive drab. Don't like calling attention to myself or my location when in the woods.

I've never seen the white version irl, but if it's stealthiness you're after the olive drab won't do much in that way either. It has this trademark CF glow to it, that makes it look silver in the woods. Again, don't know whether it's as much or less than the white, but it sure can't be called stealthy. Except maybe in winter; this is my olive drab CF in a couple of diferent contexts:

    Re: Tarp Color: Poll

It'll be a while before I can afford to splash out on cuben. I would go with the olive though. Geez, if I went to bed when it got dark and got up at first light I'd only get around 3-4 hours sleep per night in summer
