    Electric Tree Straps?

So I hiked out to one of my favorite camping spots along the river yesterday.
Wasn't going to stay the night but figured I'd have a lunch and hang in the hammock for awhile.
So I got a little fire going and was looking at one of my tree straps. When I walked around the tree, a freaking spider about the size of a VW went running around the tree and down my tree strap. It got to the biner at the loop and stopped. So I bent down to look for a branch or something to whack it with and when I looked back up. it was gone.
Needless to say I couldn't get into the hammock after that.
But I did come up with a great idea.
Electric tree straps. or, "ZAP STRAPS!" All you need is to run an extension cord over to your car battery and ZAP! the critters away.

Wouldn't one of those devices that you plug into the
wall to deter rodents and insects work just the same?

I'm talking about the subsonic speaker one

We have these spiders here that I heard called water spiders. They hang around on the shores of the rivers and streams and at mariners on the lake.
I saw one once sitting on a light bulb and it took up the whole top of the bulb.
Never been bit by one but I heard they do bite and will put a welt on you the size of an egg.
Thinking now that I'm going to soak my tree straps in some sort of insecticide.

yep, at one time I counted 8 spiders on just one of my tree straps, now the whole rig to include suspension gets treated with permethrin.

Zapstraps! I'll buy one but it has to be solar powered and weight less than 1 oz.

You have inspired me to soak my entire suspension in Permethrin.
