I didn't mean to offend. If you'd like it, we can work on undoing the transaction. It looked as if there was not a final transaction between the two of you. Per the rules, you're supposed to officially say you'll take it here on the forum. If the poster would like to send me my money back, I'm happy to let you have the hammock.

I don't know what you mean by "really like." I was following the forum rules. But, no worries. I sent Crog Welly a message asking him to send my money back to me and let you purchase the hammock. Because THAT'S what I'm really like.

Hammock is sold to SheHangs per forum rules. Mods please comment if you feel necessary.

First "I"ll take it" gets it.

Spaesani sorry for your disappointment but forum rules very clear.

SheHangs, deal stands. You acted within your rights. Pleasure doing business with you.

Looking forward to comments from some of the regulars on this one.

    So much for civil.
Good to know what the people on this forum are really like.
Truthfully, people here are good folk. Otherwise I wouldn't help moderate this forum.

The rules are clear: Any deal "in the works" and not finalized, as in your case, is a deal that either party could decline. A clear "I'll take it!" with no conditions wins. The fact that SheHangs was willing to undo the deal speaks to the kind of people here on HF. This is no different than any ebay buy-it-now transaction where you ask a question, but somebody buys it before you get an answer or commit to in a binding contract to make the purchase.

These rules are in place to deal with specific issues that have arisen many times. It works best for the HF community. Stick around, I think you'll find HF is a great place to hang out.

Most people I know and appreciate would let the persons discussing the shipping finish their conversation. That's what I mean by civil.
Bear in mind I'm Canadian and though there are some aspects of Americans I do appreciate "I'll take it" before a conversation is finished is simply not one of them.
    Thanks anyhow and happy camping!

I don't want to prolong this thread too much (online arguments can be tedious!), but....
This has absolutely nothing to do with Canadian vs American behaviour.
The same rules whether stated- as here in Hammock Forum - or understood, prevail with most private 'For Sale' transactions that I've experienced in Canada and the US.
First person with the money and a firm commitment gets the item.
    Same with eBay, Craigslist, etc.
I've done hundreds of transactions online via EBay as a Canadian seller and buyer; the majority were 'cross-border'.
In this instance the behaviour of the seller CrogWelly with my purchase has been 100% professional - great communication and prompt shipping with tracking.
