Packing your tarp - Guide Gear / Kelty thoughts

I have the Noah 12x12 and use mesh skins on it then just wind/attach it to the outside of my pack if I am hiking or tie it down to the top of the truck on my motorcycle. It is a PITA to put it back into it's original stuff sack and it takes up too much room to actually go into my pack.

I have been leaving my tie out lines attached and just wrap them around the tarp which is all wrapped around the CRL. The CRL lines are then stuff into the pockets at the end of the skins. I have recently been rethinking leaving the tie out lines attached so may have to change that up.

I use a DIY sil 12x12 tarp. I also do the snake skin thing and leave all lines attached but for the guy kind I roll them in a figure 8 around my thumb and forefinger and two wraps with a ponytail maker keeps them right and untangled. Then into a sil stuff sack.

For you that attach the tarp to the outside of your pack, do you worry about snags that might put holes/rips in the tarp? I know in Indiana, many trails have thorn bushes that hang out over the trail and I'd be afraid to snag the tarp on one of them. But I do like the idea of not putting a damp tarp inside the pack.
