I may be dumb, but at least I'm ugly!
I've done so much, with so little, for so long, now I can do anything with nothing.
It's not peer pressure, it's just your turn.
Oh boy, oh boy! As it turns out, the warehouse for tableclothfactory.com is right here in SoCal, and I will be receiving my taffeta in the morning! I will take the suspension off of my DN to set it up once it is ready! Then when my new amsteel gets here maybe it will be enough for a set of UCR's a new ridgeline, AND a new set of whoopies! I still have a short length of amsteel that I could use for one part of the UCR's... So many ideas!

I'm waiting on 3 tablecloths myself. Ordered em yesterday. Have amsteel at home, ordered some rings and poly straps from a shipping goods company today. If you're interested in making tree-huggers on the cheap check out USCargoControl.com. I ordered their heavy duty rings (12k lbs break, 3.3k lb load) and some 2" webbing. The webbing was only $0.67/foot and it comes in a variety of colors as well as a camo pattern.
I would love to make my own webbing, but unfortunately I don't have a sewing machine or heavy duty upholstery thread. I am also pretty lousy at stitching by hand I bought polypro straps with loops in them from NRS for my last hammock, perhaps this time around I will get plain old poly if it is lighter?

Oof. A quarter after 1 and still the post-lady is nowhere in sight.

Got the hammock made, but now taking it out to test it will have to wait for another day.

Also worth mentioning: I used the Justjeff "w" method since I didn't have channels to do the knotty mod. It seems like it will be pretty easy for my suspension to slip over my whipping. Has anyone had this issue or am I just worrying about stuff I shouldn't be? Fwiw, I de-cored my paracord before whipping, so there is not much for my suspension to "bite" onto.

The hammock ended up a little long, so I undid the whipping, and rewhipped the ends about 4" in from each end. I took the whoopies from my DN and tightened them up just below the whipping and it appears that it may hold. Still, with this length, it looks like I will need a little bit longer ridgeline to get the right sag. Maybe 100" since with my DN I use around 95-96". I will get to play with it soon

I know earlier I said I was going to try UCR's, but after researching, I think I have made the decision to stick to whoopies. I like the idea of UCR's but the minimum length seems to have been causing issues for some people. Also, anyone been having problems with their UCR "creeping"? Or is that just people who don't milk their bury well enough?
