Continuous Ridgeline or not

I prefer two lines pulling out, not only is it less line but things tend to get twisted in a stuff sack. All those attachment points don't help matters,

Curious here too. Does all that rubbing of the continuous ridgeline, when under the ridge, wear the tarp down in any way?

It will eventually. That's why I don't use it.

Going on 4 years use with the same line on the very first Toxoway, not a single sign of any wear at all. Once it's set in place and everything is staked down there is little movement in any part of the set up to create any rubbing. My 2cents. I have different set ups on different tarps, but thats more for experimenting than any good reason.

Particularly if you aren't using tarp skins/sleeves. Not so much an issue with sleeves though. Your left with the same amount of line coming off each end of the tarp and the rest is tucked away inside the sleeves.

One thing I have noticed with the edge tarp (cat cut)and WBBB is the cont RL ends up about a ft higher than the tarp.Am I doing something wrong?

Yes your are I think can't tell without seeing what is happing. Run the ridge line through the Metal rings on the edge tarp or if you are using some sort of a biner run your line through that. http://theultimatehang.com/2012/05/r...with-hardware/ check out the very bottom diagram I use the set up at the very bottom of the diagram

That can happen. I don't like a huge gap between the over the top ridgeline and tarp. To minimize this you you need to pull the prussics outwards as far as you can before the line in between the prussics (above the tarp itself) starts to go slack or sag. You don't want it sagging above the tarp. It should still be tight. The other thing is try not to overly tighten your four tie-out lines. You don't need to torque the crap out of the tie out lines to pull the tarp as tight as a drum head. You just need it to be tight enough to not be loose, wrinkly or floppy.

I should add that many tarps have a cat cut ridgeline so you are going to have some gap between the line and tarp ridge but you just want to try and minimize it like I mentioned above. That's how I do it anyway.

I think of continous as going around the trees and attached to the tarp in a big loop kind of like a clothes line between two apartment buildings.

Some of you are talking about a line coming off each end of the tarp to the trees.

My current setup is a single full length ridge line connected to the trees, not around them and back to the tarp. The tarp slides along the ridge line via prussic but the line doesn't move when I do this. Like draped over a fixed clothesline between two poles in your back yard.

No, we're talking the same thing but I'm referring to the part of the single line positioned directly over the tarp. My point being that ideally I don't like there to be a huge gap between the line and the ridge of the tarp. Like I said, I use a single line too. One end wraps around a tree and is clipped off with a small biner. The other end wraps around the other tree and back to a Dutch Fly. Make sense?

The difference between CRL, continuous ridgeline and not a CRL is the line between the ends of the tarp. If your line goes from one side(tree), under or over the tarp to the other side(tree), it is a CRL. If your tarp line goes from one end of the tarp only, directly to the tree and the same on the other side, NOT a CRL.
