    Cheap rain fly

I have a GrandTurk ultralight. I'd like a cheap rainfly. Is a tarp recommended? If so is there a specific type? Also will I be miserable without a bugnet?

bugs will depend on your area, a cheap poly tarp from the hardware store would be the cheapest option.

+1 on the poly tarp for a starter tarp. Also, look up the fronkey bug net. Real easy to make and pretty cheap.

I like the BugSock personally but that is all personal choice. I had a TLG Bug Net and hated the weight and miles of extra material it had.

Fronkey bugnet style with (youtube)cryptic crikett sp? material.
I made one out of 2 wallyworld panels for 4.97 each. $10 done.

Takes a short time to make and is great. Just used it this weekend in Ocala, Florida at "the no underquilt hang".
It is easy to get in and out of and hugs the bottom of the hammy. It makes it harder for the skeeters to get you from below.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

The eno bug net is ok, but honestly making one is super easy and much cheaper. If you don't want to make one take a look at some of the cottage vendors. For example, warbonnet makes one for his traveler hammock that should work fine (though you should double check that). It's about the same price as the eno but it's half the weight and it's made here in he USA by one of our forum members. Just my $.02.

And if you decide to go with a cheap (I paid $10 on sale) poly tarp from a hardware store, I'd suggest you look around for a nice camo printed one. They look cool, ..and stealthy.
