Back in high school, I remember a friend of mine telling me all about his new obsession with hammock camping. Now that I think back on it, I'm pretty sure he was talking about a Hennessy Hammock, but regardless...
I'm 26 and after graduating college, getting married, and buying a house, I'm trying to get back into the hiking and camping I did when I was younger (I MISS IT). I've been aware of hammock camping, but never really understood how it worked until I unknowingly wandered into Shug's intro videos.
After that, it was all over. I have now watched the series about 10 times, bought one of those Yukon Outfitters hammocks that Woot.com sold a month or so ago, and spruced it up with a whoopie sling suspension kit from arrowhead and some dutch clips.
I still have some essentials to figure out (on a budget), like a tarp and insulation... but I just did my first test hang by a lake near my home and almost stayed there forever.
I'm hoping to head out on the trail with a friend next month, so I have some work to do, and I'm hoping all of you wonderful people have the answers I need hidden away in a thread here somewhere.
Thanks for all of the great info and the community driven products and support!
