I hear that amsteel is available at most marine supply stores, but I can't really vouch for that from experience.
For rings, I got these at Home Depot, and they have done the job quite nicely for my rig, although I've only used it one night so far.
Thank you white guy

Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.
Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.
@ Lazy River Road, your right! Dutch has some great products and I'm happy to say I own quite a few of them. Sadly however, he does not carry "descending rings"
Amazon has them.
AHE has Rings down at the bottom if these are what you were referring to.

I always go with the 7/64 12-strand amsteel from Redden Marine's website. Use discount code "hammockforum". In fact I have another 100' coming in the mail right now!
I may be dumb, but at least I'm ugly!
I've done so much, with so little, for so long, now I can do anything with nothing.
It's not peer pressure, it's just your turn.
Descending rings, and rappel rings are the same thing.
I prefer Omega Pacific, mainly because my specialty shop of choice is Eastern Mountain Sports
Here
OP Rap rings run about $4 each.. minus a 15% discount if your a college student (or know one that'll buy them for you), or belong to a outdoor organization (IE in NY: Adirondack Mountain Club (ADK), Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC), etc)
They also run sales typically twice a year, in the fall and spring on hiking /climbing gear, and picking up Rap Rings from the for $2-$2.50 each is not unheard of.
